Special Viewings -- Only During Kyoto Winter Special 2008 Hidden cultural heritage sites, normally not open to the public, will be open for viewing during the event. During Kyoto Winter Special 2008, 10 temples will open their cultural heritages to the public.

For 9 weeks, from January 12 - March 18, 2007 (*excluding Toji Temple Kanjo-in Temple). All viewings are for culturally valuable items. This is a wonderful opportunity for gaining a deeper understanding of Kyoto's culture.

   
 
9 weeks, from January 12 – March 18, 2007. *Toji Temple Kanjo-in Temple will open from January 20.
10:00 – 16:00*Toji Temple Pagoda, Chishaku-in Temple are open from 9:00 – 16:00, Toji Temple Kanjo-in Temple is open 9:30 – 16:00, and Rokuharamitsuji is open 9:00 – 16:30.
600 yen (10% discount for groups over 15). *Please note that Toji Temple Pagoda and Chishaku-in Temple are 800 yen (includes normal admission)
 
On-site guidance is available in Japanese. Groups under 15 people do not need a reservation. Be aware that some temple hours may differ.
* Some temples may be closed for Buddhist services without notice.

Kaisan-do/Hatto
The Kaisan-do houses the ancient tablets and image of the founder of the temple.

The bold “Sakura”, centered around Japan’s renowned cherry trees, was painted by Tohaku Hasegawa’s son Kyuzo when he was 25.

The Scripture House (Important Cultural Property) is a repository Buddhist scriptures, the teachings of Buddha.

On the grounds is a statue of Zonzo Yakushi, an extremely important Buddhist figure.

The repository contains images of Kiyonori no Taira and Kuya, both Important Cultural Artifacts, and many famous treasures.
