This is one of the most beautiful seasons in the 'City of Trees'. Especially from spring to summer, when the brightly colored new green leaves begin to sprout. Japan is often associated with the cherry blossom tree, however, how many people have seen more than 1000 cherry blossom trees lining the roadside?
The 'Ogawara' region is a place where you can see more than 1000 cherry blossom trees in full bloom along the riverside! The view of the magnificent cherry blossom trees will surely make a great addition to your photo album. The origin of the place name 'Hitome Senbon Sakura' came from the fact that 1000 sakura trees could be seen in a single glance.

Aoba Castle

Aoba Castle was built on the summit of the pathway to Sendai. It is very popular with tourists and tourists can take in the spectacular view of the whole city. The castle was built by the Lord Date Masamune on a solid foundation 115 meters above sea level. Although the original building burnt down, some sections of the building and the stone wall still remain intact and are now preserved as historical monuments. Therefore it is still possible to appreciate the site's former magnificence. Get a glimpse into Sendai's history whist taking in the beautiful surroundings.
As the path to Aoba Castle is quite steep, the Loople Sendai Bus is the most convenient form of transportation to get around. The site is the perfect spot to start sightseeing due to the close proximity to the city.

  • Akiu is famous for its hot springs, but also for its gigantic waterfall. The huge Akiu waterfall is 6 meters wide and 55 meters high and considered to be one of the 3 major waterfalls in Japan. Visitors can experience the waterfall up close. Although the waterfall is certainly spectacularly beautiful to see, it is also perfect for cooling down due to the spray from the waterfall which lowers the surrounding air temperature. It is highly recommended to those who would like to experience the vitality of nature.
